GUIDELINES FOR YOUR UPCOMING ONLINE SESSION

We will be using two tools, Zoom and Miro, for our time together. If you have never used them before, don’t sweat it! We'll help you. 

There is nothing to download, nothing to buy, and nothing you need to practice.

You will click the link we send, type your name, and you will be in. Most people find their footing within the first few minutes, and we will be walking beside you the whole way.

About Miro:

The simplest way to picture Miro is a very large whiteboard on the wall of a very large room. Everything we do lives on that one surface. The only real skill you need is moving around it. On a laptop, hold the space bar and drag with your mouse to slide the board around, or use two fingers on your trackpad. To zoom, use the plus and minus buttons near the edge of your screen, or hold Ctrl (Command on a Mac) while you scroll. If you ever feel lost, do not panic or start clicking. Just say so out loud, and we will pull everyone back to the same spot.

The main thing you will actually do is write on sticky notes. Type your thought, then click away from the object and it saves itself. You can drag notes around with your mouse, and if you make a mess, you can always press Ctrl+Z (Command+Z on a Mac) to undo it. That is worth remembering because it removes most of the fear. You genuinely cannot break anything that we cannot fix in three seconds.

A few practical notes. A laptop with a mouse or trackpad is far and away the best experience.

Do not use a tablet or a phone. It will frustrate you, so please avoid them.

YOU WILL NEED A WORKING CAMERA AND MICROPHONE. THIS IS A "CAMERA ON" SESSION - BUT WE DON'T CARE HOW YOU DRESS - GET COMFY!

Close your other tabs, since Miro likes a bit of room to breathe. And if you can join a few minutes early, we can sort out any hiccups before we begin rather than during the session.
